2009 Annual Meeting Committee Top The Annual Meeting Committee considers all facets of the coming year’s convention, and makes format, program, and policy recommendations to the board and staff. Areas of responsibility include overall time schedules, business functions and social events; the timing, policies and function of hospitality suites and CONDEX exhibits; and general session speakers and educational breakout session programming for both distributors and manufacturers. 2009 Future Leaders Task Force Top It is essential to the bright future of AED that the organization's activities and services remain relevant and attractive to the newer generations of industry leaders. As tastes, styles, priorities and expectations of new generations typically evolve from past norms, we consider it essential to stay abreast. Both the general membership and the leadership ranks of AED alike draw heavily from individual executives who began their AED involvement early in their careers. Thus we have comprised the AED Future Leaders Task Force of representatives of that new generation. The task force is charged with developing perspectives and recommendations relating to values affecting membership and participation in AED. Recommendations may include specific initiatives, or broader perception-related issues that improve AED's relevance and value with future leaders. The group will examine AED's purpose and clarify a vision that captures the essential elements of a successful value proposition from their perspective. 2009 Government Affairs Committee Top The AED Government Affairs Committee is responsible for supporting successful implementation of the public policy objectives of the AED Strategic Plan. The Committee's function is to help conceive and develop strategies and program that protect and promote members' business interests with government, through advocacy of pro-business, pro-industry public policy. The Committee's responsibilities include advising the AED Oak Brook and Washington staffs on activities that (1) create awareness of and provide information on important issues; (2) mobilize and coordinate members' political activity in support of AED objectives; (3) take direct action with Government to affect legislative and regulatory outcomes; (4) maintain an effective voice with key Government agencies and officials; (5) support state and local initiatives undertaken by Local Groups; and (6) leverage AED's public policy assets by participating in coalitions when appropriate. The Committee also helps plan and support the AED Political Action Committee's fundraising and donation activities. Walter Berry Berry Companies, Inc. Wichita KS Paul W.
