AED Foundation - News Articles AED Certification in Branch, Parts, Service and Rental Management: An Achievement That Works for the Betterment of Your Dealership Since 2005, AED University has raised the bar in manager training by offering AED Certification in Branch, Parts, Service and Rental Management. Today the list has grown to 56 managers who can proudly say they have achieved AED Certification. The list of those enrolled in the program is nearly doubled that amount. Many companies have come to rely on the certification process to train their managers. Kirby-Smith Machinery, Inc., headquartered in Tulsa, Okla., is one of them. Their managers actually account for more than 17 percent of all the AED certified managers. Here are a few of their staff being recognized for their certifications. ![]() Learn how going through each training track can help your managers become the leaders of today and help them do their jobs better: Service Managers: Business is picking up and the service techs you laid off are nowhere to be found. The majority of the new hires will average less than half your own age. Think about the seasoned techs that decided to take retirement, who will be replacing them? Fresh out of school and wet behind the ears, the next group is going to hit the ground running. How strong are your leadership skills? Parts Managers: You weathered the economic storm and moved up the ladder, and now you're looking for new hires to join your team. Do you have the skills it takes to manage and lead them to be productive and profitable? Rental Managers: The economy has made dealers change the structure of their business, adding rental to their offering. Did you make the change with them? Did you have the experience and knowledge it takes to be a rental manager? Do you know the ins and outs of rent to rent and rent to sell? Branch Managers: You spent the past few years doing all you could to keep your head above water and your job in tack and now it's full swing into the busy season you have been waiting for. You laid off as many managers as it took to keep afloat making do with those managers you could depend on. How are you feeling about hiring again? Have you noticed the majority of new hires are younger members of you parts, service and rental team? Are you thinking your leadership skills could use some sharpening? The competition out there is rearing up and your team needs a stronger and smarter leader. Each of the AED Certification tracks recognize the skills and disciplines it takes to manage as branch, parts, service and rental managers of an equipment dealership, building on each in the area of people, sales, customer, operation and financial management.
