AED Government Affairs Office - About Us
AED's Washington office is the distributors' national advocate for policy and legislation favorable to the equipment industry.

Our team of Washington-based attorneys influences the progress of legislation on Capitol Hill and educates AED's members about the issues facing our industry and the nation. In recent months, our Washington Counsel has been actively working to:

  • Increase the level of funding for the federal highway program

  • Enact product liability reform legislation to protect distributors from frivolous lawsuits

  • Fight government competition and attempts by the General Services Administration and Tennessee Valley Authority to enter the equipment distribution business.

  • Eliminate the burden of estate and capital gains taxes on family business owners.
Our Washington program is guided by the belief that the active and informed distributor is the key to our industry's success in the political process. Thus, AED members receive Washington Insights, our monthly political newsletter, as well as legislative alerts that let them know when the time is right for them to contact their representatives and weigh in on legislation.

AED's Washington Counsel also manages AED's Political Action Committee, the entity through which the equipment industry supports the candidacies of public officials that share our beliefs and values. AED PAC's Capitol Club provides another avenue for AED members to become involved in the politics of our nation.
